Here at Covenant Newsletter,  we see a need in both God’s Children and in those that are outside of the Family of God.  To meet this need we are proclaiming the “Good News” of the Kingdom of God.  When I that there is a need people ask me “What are you talking about?”

Amos prophesied to the fact that this day would come.

Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
Amos 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Unfortunately, we see this today.  We are surrounded each day with bad reports coming from this world that we live in.  There are continual reports of disasters, senseless terror attacks, diseases that have no earthy cures, broken families, financial problems, job losses, wars and rumors of wars.

Each of these daily reports are given a high profile through the news media.  If we allow them, they will portray a dismal outlook for your future.

Yet God says that there is hope, there is peace, and there is a way to victory in this world today.

What Is A Famine

Several years ago I had the opportunity to minister in the Ukraine.  While there, one of the ladies of the church testified about living thru one of the deadliest famines in the 20th century.  After talking with some of those that had lived thru that famine, I learned that the famine wasn’t due to a “lack of food”.

Rather, this famine was caused because the food grown was taken from the people.  This caused a lack of access to food.   Daniel Maxwell wrote an excellent article that covers this titled Famines in the 21st century? It’s not for lack of food.”

In his article, there are 2 points that apply to the scripture as well.

  • Famines happen only with some degree of human complicity.
  • Famines typically have multiple causes.

I believe that this also applies to the famine Amos spoke of.

Notice that Amos says the famine is not for the Word of God – but hearing the Word of God.

This then means we have to ask “what constitutes a famine of hearing of the words of the Lord”?  It is our thought this famine occurs when:

  • Where the means of instruction do not actually exist.
  • Where the means exist, but the instruction is not given.
  • Where the means of the instruction are unconnected with the Divine blessing.

Unfortunately, there are the awful consequences of such a famine.

  • It presses upon the nobler principle of our nature.
  • It removes the great preventive of crime.
  • It dries up the only source of comfort.
  • It leaves man without a hope beyond the grave.

In order for us to overcome this famine, there are a few things we have to learn.

  •  A lesson of gratitude for your distinguished religious privileges.
  • Be humble before God for your abuse of such exalted privileges,
  • The hearing of the Gospel will be of no avail without the teaching of the Holy Spirit.

This is what has set our purpose for this web site.

We are proclaiming the “Good News” of the Kingdom of God to both (1) God’s children, and (2) to those that do not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

For God’s children, we want To cause you to think about and act on your covenant rights that are made available to you through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

To those that do not know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, we want you to understand that there is a reason for your to serve Jesus.

The Other Report

You see, there is another report. This report has not been given much attention by this world.   Sadly to say, it has not been given much attention by many of God’s children.

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?          Isaiah 53:1

I understand how difficult it is to be surrounded by so much “bad news”.  After awhile a person may begin to think, “That’s just the way things are in this world”. “I guess I’ll just have to take whatever life hands me”.

I would agree, that is the way things are in this world. You can’t just stick your head in the sand and pretend those problems don’t exist, or hope that they will just go away.

But do you really have to take whatever life hands you. Think about it. Allow the Spirit of God to speak to you. Is there another way?

Can you really live your life on this earth in peace and joy no matter what is going on around you?

Can you really believe that no matter what bad news may be coming from this world that it will not come near you?

The answer to these questions is YES!

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Psalms 91:7

There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.      Psalms 91:10

This web site, is continually being updated with the Good News of the covenant between God and his children. Dare to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Find out what Jesus meant when he said:

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly     John 10:10.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.Galatians 5:22,23

If you are Born Again then all of these fruits are in you. You don’t need to try to stir up your own joy. You don’t have to wait for peace. Your peace is already in you. And it is vastly different than anything the world can offer.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  John 14:27

Go ahead and believe by faith what God’s Word is telling you. Allow God to use your life to bring the good news of salvation to others around you.

With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation. Psalms 91:16

Trust what God is saying, because he will never fail you!

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10
